WHY RURAL?

IHP was built for rural and community hospitals: the hospitals managing surgical preparation on paper and legacy systems, often as the largest employer in their community and the only option their patients have. These are the hospitals where the preparation gap has the highest cost, and where IHP can have the most impact.

WHY THE SURGICAL READINESS SCORE?

Hospital leaders have no real-time view of whether tomorrow's cases are going to run until a cancellation is made the morning it was supposed to happen. IHP introduced the Surgical Readiness Score as the first pre-admit performance KPI in the industry.

Founder story

Founded by Ryan Hayden

IHP was founded by Ryan Hayden, whose conviction was born from the same stress and uncertainty that many families experience. Witnessing surgical preparation chaos firsthand as a caregiver, and as a professional, he realized that nothing had changed in the past 30 years, especially in rural care deserts.

Ryan wants to help families – and their care teams – feel confident, and prepared, every step of the way.

That's why he's placing the burden of surgical readiness with the platform, not with the patients and clinical teams who carry it today.

He's on a mission to help healthcare operators – especially in small towns and care deserts – leverage modern technology to evolve from surviving to thriving. So, everyone can focus on caring for the communities they serve.

Ryan brings experience across healthcare operations, technology, and strategic advisory work. He has spent decades building relationships, gaining insights, and hearing perspectives from across the healthcare ecosystem. Above all, he brings his own experiences as a caregiver.
